First-of-its Kind Spotify Multimedia Playlist Generated National Buzz for Bank of America

Role: Global Creative Strategy Lead at Spotify
First-time client Bank of America, the sponsor behind Ken Burns' documentaries on PBS, sought to increase awareness among younger audiences of 'The Vietnam War' video series. The concept: recruit top artists — John Legend, the Lumineers, and a trio featuring Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr., and Jon Batiste — to cover classic songs from the Vietnam era and speak about their connection to that moment in history.

Results

Songs and accompanying videos were distributed in the first-ever branded version of Spotify's mixed media playlists, generating organic social mentions from the featured artists and national press. The cover of "Ohio" has streamed over 13 million times on Spotify.

Star-Studded Mini-Series Concept Yields Multi-Million Dollar KIA + YouTube Partnership

In partnership with YouTube, I developed and co-produced two unique music-focused series and sold them to Kia Motors as part of a multi-million dollar deal. In "Rediscovered," artists of today record classic pop hits — only to be surprised in the studio by the original artist. In "The Shhhow," unsuspecting fans receive invites to an event which magically transforms into a pop-up concert by their favorite artists, including Weezer, Clean Bandit, and Motel.

Results

Video from all six episodes was distributed globally through Kia's YouTube channels and promoted on YouTube's music pages. Secured multi-million dollar partnership deal.

At Cannes Lions, we wanted to fuel passion among creatives and marketers about Spotify's audio advertising capabilities while utilizing a buzzworthy podcast format. Our concept: develop a short-form audio series called "Creativity You Can't See," utilizing punchy scripts and clever sound design, that is experienced through museum-style placards throughout the Spotify Beach activation.

Results

Experienced by thousands of guests at the Spotify Beach and distributed widely by Spotify's global sales team to fuel passion among creatives about audio advertising.

TelevisaUnivision needed to update and revitalize its messaging for its annual advertising upfront presentation. I had to zero in on key messaging pillars for TU's 2023 industry and trade marketing, all to support TU ad sales enablement and grow revenue vs. 2022. Through stakeholder interviews and desk research, I built a strategic foundation around the "Grow With Us" concept to drive script development.

Results

Strategic foundation drove successful upfront presentation script development, supporting TU ad sales enablement and revenue growth versus 2022.

Amazon's Audible had the opportunity to market its content during broadcasts of Thursday Night Football. We developed a TV spot to market their sports content, categorized under the "Call An Audible" moniker. Using desk research and stakeholder interviews, I built a creative brief to drive ideation for the spot featuring NFL quarterback Russell Wilson.

Results

Successfully launched TV campaign during prime NFL viewing time, driving awareness of Audible's sports content category with high-profile athlete endorsement.

Creative Narrative in Action: Volkswagen Group Innovation Day

Role: Global Creative Strategy Lead, Spotify Advertising
At its annual gathering of marketing leads in 2018, VW hosted an Innovation Day, and invited Spotify to present our best possible pitch to prove that audio advertising was a must-buy. I built a custom version of our creative strategy presentation for automotive, specifically VW brands, that included a data science deep-dive into the listening habits of VW drivers, actionable insights for marketers, and custom content captured in a VW vehicle outside Barcelona.

Results

Not only did this presentation spark a major uptick in VW spends on Spotify, but it led to a multi-million Euro investment by their SEAT brand in a custom partnership to optimize their Primavera Sound festival sponsorship.
